As of 2021, around 324 metric tons of gold were produced in West Africa. This increased from the preceding year and represented an overall rise in gold production in the sub-region since 2011. The producer countries considered were Burkina Faso, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, Guinea, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, and Sierra Leone. In the whole of Africa, the volume of gold production reached 680.3 metric tons in 2021.
