After peaking in 2014, the number of students in higher education in Denmark has since decreased. In 2022, a total of 142,685 higher educational students were registered in the country. Of these, 111,000 were of Danish origin, whereas more than 20,000 were immigrants. The number of students belonging to both these groups declined slightly since 2014. On the other hand, the number of migrant descendants in higher education increased steadily over the past 10 years. Among the eight universities in Denmark, the University of Copenhagen hosted the largest number of students in 2022.
