According to a survey carried out in 2023, the vast majority of young people in Spain claimed that they had felt discriminated at least once in their lives. Only 23.7 percent of men and 15.3 percent of women stated that they had never experienced discrimination.
Physical appearance and being young ranked as the main reasons for being discriminated for both genders. However, 27 percent of female respondents answered that they had felt discriminated on account of their sex or gender identity, a share that went down to 13 percent in the case of men.

The original questions were phrased as follows: "Se dice que una persona (o grupo de personas) es discriminada cuando es tratada de forma más desfavorable que
otra debido a sus características personales. ¿Alguna vez te has sentido discriminado/a por alguno de los siguientes
motivos en tu vida cotidiana?" and "¿En qué ámbito o situación concreta te has sentido discriminado/a por tu género,
si eso ha sucedido?"
