In 2023, the global natural gas price index stood at 193.86 index points. This was down from a peak of 521.58 in 2022. Natural gas prices increased significantly in the latter half of 2021 throughout much of 2022 owing to greater power demand combined with supply constraints. This trend was also reflected in the monthly natural gas price index.
