In 2021, inpatients spent, on average, 9.2 days in hospitals in China, representing a slight decrease from 2020. The average length of stay for inpatients largely depends on the types of hospitals and the nature of illnesses treated. Inpatients receiving treatments for leprosy or psychiatric disorders tend to stay in hospitals longer compared to patients with other conditions. On the other hand, inpatients attending eye or plastic surgeries are usually discharged within a few days.
