The live event market in Asia experienced a decline during the coronavirus pandemic. However, as live events returned globally in 2022, ticket sales were expected to increase. Forecasts by Statista estimated that tickets for sports events would generate revenue of around 6.8 billion U.S. dollars in 2022, up from 4.45 billion in 2019.

The calculation is based on Statista Digital Market Outlook figures for digital ticket sales within the relevant event categories, primary market research data from the Statista Global Consumer survey is used to calculate the offline ticket sales for the relevant markets. Gaps within the data for theater and comedy events were complimented applying statistical analysis as regression analysis and research for external sources.
Bias due to regional differences in online penetration and price differences were avoided by including the share of the online population as well as the big mac index into the Modelling approach.
