According to a survey investigating the main reasons why U.S. "newcomer" gardeners started participating in lawn and garden activities in 2020, 49 percent of respondents did so because they deemed it to be good for mental health. An equal share of respondents answered that the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic was one of their reasons.
