On the first round of the French presidential elections, the abstention rate, usually lower than in other types of elections, reached an important level. Indeed, although the proportion of French people intending to vote has increased slightly over the last few months, on April 10th, more than one French person out of four did not vote. Among those under 35, this proportion exceeded 40 percent.
In the second round of the previous presidential elections, about one third of people under 35 did not vote.
