Mobile gaming title Pokémon GO enjoys a very engaged gaming community - in August 2022, the Pokémon GO Fest drew millions of Pokémon trainers worldwide. Approximately 1.75 billion Pokémon were caught during the weekend of the special event. The game celebrated its 6 year anniversary in July 2022. For the first time since the global COVID-19 pandemic, the Pokémon Go Fest took place in person again with Pokémon trainers in Berlin, Seattle, and Sapporo being able to join physically while millions more joined online.
