The value of insurance premiums in Sub-Saharan Africa fluctuated significantly from 2011 to 2020. In 2020, insurance premiums in this region reached a value of over 50 billion U.S. dollars - a decrease of around eight billion U.S. dollars from the previous year. Insurance premiums decreased overall during the period under observation, dropping by around 12 billion U.S. dollars since 2011. In 2020, reinsurance premiums in Sub-Saharan Africa reached almost five billion U.S. dollars.
