Doping occurs when an athlete uses prohibited substances or methods to improve their results in training and competitions. This practice is forbidden for any athlete participating in a competition or sporting event, such as the Olympics, and anti-doping tests are regularly carried out. Of the over 241 thousand samples analyzed in 2020, around 1.59 percent of those taken for non-Olympic disciplines reported an Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF).
