The high price of domestically produced organic vegetables in Japan was considered the leading challenge at food manufacturing businesses as revealed in a survey conducted in 2021. While 40 percent of responding businesses considered the price of Organic JAS certified vegetables a factor inhibiting their uses in manufacturing, less than one percent stated that the higher quality of imported ingredients was a challenge.
