As of February 2024, a little less than half (46 percent) of internet users aged 55 years and over surveyed in Peru said they accessed news content through WhatsApp. Among respondents from the 18-24 age group, the share stood at 21 percent. That same year, the websites of El Comercio and of RPP - or Radio Programas del Perú, a radio station founded in 1963 – were the top online news brand in Peru.
