The extractive industry in Mozambique received nearly two billion U.S. dollars in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) as of 2020. According to the source, most of this investment was absorbed by oil and gas companies. FDI flows to the extractive industry represented over 80 percent of the total foreign investment allocated to Mozambique. For instance, manufacturing obtained 127 million U.S. dollars in FDI, while nearly 63 million U.S. dollars went to construction.
