On July 14, 2021, the German Weather Service measuring station in Hagen-Holthausen recorded a rainfall of 241.3 liters per square meter within 22 hours. That day, several German states were experiencing ongoing heavy rainfall at extreme levels, which led to the worst flooding disaster in the country's recent history.

Statistical frequency refers to regularly conducted model calculations by the German Weather Service (KOSTRA-DWD-2010R). This model calculates the annuality of rainfall by time period, e.g. “Every five years 29.2 liters per square meter within one hour.”
The values from the listed locations and time periods shown here exceed the scale of the model for 100 years, therefore are exemplary of the “centennial flood” in July 2021.
