According to a survey conducted in Japan in January 2023, the share of women who stated that they attended traditional Japanese performances in the past year amounted to 3.1 percent, while 2.7 percent of men stated the same. Traditional art performances cover a broad variety of stage performances, from classical music, to puppet shows, to drama.
