In 2022, South Korea imported roughly 914 thousand tons of petrochemicals. This represents a decrease from the previous year. As South Korea does not have any natural gas or oil resources, a large part of these imports are made up of crude oil and similar petrochemicals. These are then used for domestic consumption or further chemical production.
