The share of people in Japan who think that magazines are an important source of information amounted to 16 percent in fiscal year 2023. The figure increased for the first time since fiscal year 2019.

*The source counts the answers of the survey conducted in December 2023 as figures for fiscal year 2023. The Japanese fiscal year starts on April 1 of the stated year and ends on March 31 of the following year. Figures for previous years are based on earlier surveys, each with a sample size of 1,500 respondents.
Data prior to fiscal year 2022 come from previous reporting.
Respondents were asked how important they regarded magazines as "a means to gain information (source of information)." There were five possible answers: "Very important," "Important to a certain degree," "Neither," "Not really important," "Absolutely not important." The values shown in this statistic represent the combined share of respondents who answered either "Very important" or "Important to a certain degree."
