On October 4, 2021, when social networks belonging to Facebook Inc. were not accessible, six out of ten Russians lacked communication on WhatsApp, and nearly 30 percent on Instagram. Due to the outage of Facebook products, a significant part of users moved to other social media platforms, such as VK (Vkontakte) and Telegram, which had led to their overload. Five percent of VKontakte account owners stated that they missed using the social network on that day.
