According to a survey carried out in Guatemala in 2020 with migrants from Central America who were in transit through the country, the vast majority of Guatemalan migrants (90.5 percent) had the neighbouring Mexico as their destination country. By contrast, 67.2 percent of Hondurans wanted to reach the U.S. Violence and insecurity was one of the main reasons to migrate reported by those surveyed.
