In April of 2021, just shy of 50 percent of consumers in the United States had been shopping at hardware shops in-store. In contrast, only about a quarter of surveyed shoppers in the U.S. had done in-store hardware shopping back in March 2020. The number of people showing an interest in omnichannel shopping had grown over the course of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and had reached nearly 20 percent by April 2021.
