The global demand for graphite for energy technologies (in the two-degree scenario) is forecast to grow by nearly 500 percent by 2050, as compared to the 2018 production volume. Lithium's forecast demand growth for energy technologies by 2050 is nearly as dramatic, at 491 percent compared to 2018. Energy storage applications are expected to be the main drivers of this dramatic growth in demand for graphite and lithium, as well as cobalt.
