Signal global downloads 2020-2024, by region

In the second quarter of 2024, mobile messaging app Signal registered almost 3.90 million downloads in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, down from the over 4.5 million downloads recorded during the previous quarter. In 2021, users have found in mobile apps like Telegram or Signal an alternative to market leader WhatsApp, after the controversial privacy policy update the app required. However, after an increase of more than 45 percent in January 2021, Signal has been losing a large part of the daily active users it had gained at the beginning of the year.
