The Independence Party has been the largest party in Iceland by a high margin in 2021, according to voting intentions. As of September 19, 21.2 percent of survey respondents said that they intended to vote for the Independence Party. Since April, the Left-Green Movement, who the current Prime Minister represents, had been the second largest political party, but was passed by both the Progressive Party, the Social Democratic Alliance and the Pirate Partz at the most recent poll. Moreover, the Icelandic Socialist Party looks set to enter the Althing.
