Number of teachers in education in South Africa from 2017-2022
As of 2022, the total number of teaching staff in South Africa amounted to 450,993. Compared to the previous year, this represented an increment of nearly 3,870 of new teachers. Since 2017, the cumulative number of educators followed a positive trend with an overall increase of 4.1 percent. Moreover, KwaZulu-Natal was the province with largest amount of teachers.
