According to a Taiwanese consumer survey conducted by Rakuten Insight in June 2024, about 26 percent of respondents who did not subscribe to any platform accessed to subscription-video-on-demand (SVOD) services through accounts of their acquaintances. Unaffordable subscription fees and alternative free or cheaper channels to access to the desired shows were the most common reasons not to pay for SVOD in Taiwan.
