The management of the health crisis by Emmanuel Macron and the government has been widely criticized since the implementation of the first lockdown in March 2020, by the opposition in the National Assembly and the Senate. These sentiments were echoed by many citizens, who expressed concerns about the ineffectiveness of government policy in the face of the crisis.
However, for more than half of the left-wing, LREM and Les Républicains voters, this perceived bad management does not influence their vote in the regional elections. On the other hand, the government's handling of the crisis has led 51 percent of Rassemblement National voters to position themselves against the parties of the presidential majority and its allies.
