As of the first quarter of 2021, outgoing short message service (SMS) traffic through cellular telephones in Morocco amounted to approximately 597 million units. This decreased from the roughly 640 million units sent in the 4th quarter of 2020. Moreover, within the period under study, the outgoing mobile SMSs reached its highest in Q1 2020, at 740 million units. Overall, the penetration rate of mobile telephone subscriptions in the country rose to around 137 .6 percent in March 2021.
