As of 2019, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) issued the highest number of credit cards among China's six largest banks. In total, ICBC issued 159 million credit cards to its customers, which were 26 million more than China Construction Bank. In China, credit cards are not a popular payment method. Instead, consumers prefer digital payment services such as WeChat Pay and Alipay.
