The Tour de France is a world renowned cycle race that took place for the first time in 1903. Its route crosses France and even passes occasionally into some neighboring countries. Also known as the "Big Loop", the Tour de France has become one of the prestigious races in the world. Based on 2019 estimates of earnings from the competition, TV rights accounted for 55 percent of the total revenue.
The source adds the following information: "Figures are based on 2019 estimates of Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) earnings from the race only. The ASO is a private organization highly secretive about the revenue it generates from the Tour de France. But experts estimate the figure to be between 60 and 150 million U.S. dollars per year."
