Approximately one half of Russians were willing to use national digital currency instead of regular cash, according to a survey conducted in 2021. To compare, 38 percent of respondents were not in favor of this idea.

The survey was conducted by tablet-assisted personal interview (TAPI).
The original survey question was worded as follows: " Если завтра Центральный Банк выпустит национальную цифровую валюту (то есть, наличные перейдут в цифровой формат), которыми можно будет платить абсолютно в любом месте наравне с обычными наличными, будете ли Вы ими пользоваться?"
