As of 2021, Intesa Sanpaolo was the Italian bank with the largest value of risk-weighted assets (RWAs) among the ten largest banks in Italy. Intesa's RWAs amounted to almost 323 billion euros in 2021. Unicredit S.p.A. followed, with risk weighted assets amounting to roughly 322 billion euros.

Figures were collected from individual annual reports of the ten largest Italian banks in terms of total assets. Cassa Depositi e Prestiti is also one of the largest banks by total assets, but no figures for RWAs were found.
