According to a January 2021 survey of Italian dating app users, almost five in ten people who used dating apps at least once did so out of curiosity. Making new friends also appeared to be one of the most popular reasons for users in Italy to subscribe to online dating apps, accounting for 38 percent of respondents. Only 25 percent of respondents indicated they joined to find an exclusive romantic partner, matching the 25 percent of respondents who joined to find non-exclusive romantic partners.
