The sports industry came to a grinding halt in 2020 as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Many sporting events were cancelled or played behind closed doors, while others were played with just a fraction of the usual attendance. However, the arrival of vaccines has given hope that sports fans will once again be able to enjoy live sporting events in the near future.
During a survey conducted in May 2021 in the United States, a majority of respondents, 52 percent, stated that they thought sports leagues and teams should require fans to wear masks to attend live sporting events, while 32 percent of respondents thought masks should not be required.
