In 2019, it was found that in France, 89 percent of victims of sexual violence as minors had been sexually assaulted (e.g., touched) and 22 percent had been raped. Regarding the setting of the first assault, more than half of the first sexual assaults on minors took place either in the family home or within the extended family circle. Moreover, although three quarters of the victims no longer had any contact with their aggressor(s), one quarter were always in contact with them.
