In 2020, military expenditure in Algeria corresponded to 17 percent of the government spending, the highest share in Africa. Algeria's spending with defense was recorded at around 10 billion U.S. dollars. Ranking in the 2nd position, Chad registered nearly 16 percent of the government spending dedicated to armed forces, personnel, and military activities.
