Asia is projected to have the steepest surface freight recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic in all three scenarios presented, reaching the highest volume under the Recover scenario, at over 43.4 trillion tonne-kilometers. It is anticipated to be followed by the United States and Canada.

Three different scenarios for post-COVID-19 pandemic are presented here. The recover scenario assumes governments will prioritize economic recovery by reinforcing established economic activities. The reshapereshape+ scenario includes governments taking advantage of decarbonization opportunities initially created by the pandemic, reinforcing the efforts outlined by the reshape scenario.
