After remaining stable for two years, the level of traffic congestion in the city of Marseille began to decline in 2019. With the COVID-19 crisis and travel restrictions to curb the spread of the virus, the congestion rate dropped even further in 2020, reaching 30 percent. The monthly level of traffic congestion in Marseille varied greatly during 2020. Figures were higher than the annual rate during certain months of the year.
