In 2023, Brazil was the leading Latin American nation based on the energy transition index (ETI), with a score of 65.9. The ETI benchmarks the performance of a countries' energy system and their readiness for transition. Uruguay, Costa Rica, Chile, and Colombia, followed, with a score over 60. On the other side of the spectrum, Jamaica ranked last in the region, with a score of 44.9.
