In December 2023, Mexico recorded the highest number of active oil rigs in Latin America, with 60 units in operation. Argentina followed closely, with 57 active rigs reported. Meanwhile in Brazil, by far the largest crude oil producer in Latin America, there were only 14 active oil rigs at the time.
