According to the survey on homestays in India between 2019 and 2020, around 78 percent of respondents stated that income generation was the prime reason to start the homestay business. Furthermore, social interaction was also a prime motive for seven percent of the respondents in the country.
Homestay is a mode of hospitality whereby guests stay at a private residence. The length of stay as well as the size of the accommodation vary.
