Consumers living in second tier cities in China spend the most in watching movies in cinemas. In 2020, the box office revenue of tier-2 cities amounted to almost 30 billion yuan. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Chinese cinema market shrank to only a third of the size in the previous year.
