In 2019, some 192 hours were needed for documentary compliance to export in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as well as in South Sudan. In Sudan, documentary requirements to export demanded 190 hours. Those were the longest time needed in Sub-Saharan Africa, where the regional average was 71.9 hours. During the same period, the time required for documentary compliance for exports in Lesotho and Eswatini was one hour and two hours, respectively.

The aim is to measure the total burden of preparing the bundle of documents that will enable completion of the international trade for the product and partner pair assumed in the case study".
