Substitution treatments aim to offer patients suffering from severe drug addiction a pharmacological substance with similar effects in order to reduce their dependence gradually. These treatments are medically supervised. In France, more than 21,000 people underwent cannabis substitution treatment in 2020. More than 9,500 people addicted to opioids underwent treatment that same year.
