According to a survey on the steps to enable a security framework in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in 2020, 46 percent of the respondents from Palestine identified the return of the United States to the JCPOA as an important step in improving the regional security. This was followed with 39 percent of respondents from UK.

Semi-structured interviews were used, with 210 experts and current and former policymakers in 15 territories including the US, the UK, France, Germany, Russia, China, Israel, Iran, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
