Noord-Holland was the region in the Netherlands accounting for the highest number of individuals employed in the cultural sector in 2019. In that year, cultural activities located in this area - where Amsterdam, the Netherlands capital, is also located - accounted for roughly 121 thousand employees. The region of Zuid-Holland reported the second-highest figure, with approximately 87 thousand people employed in the cultural sector.

The classifications used to produce statistics on cultural employment are: NACE Rev.2 for economic activity (sector of employment), ISCO-08 for occupation, and ISCED 2011 for educational attainment level.
Cultural employment statistics cover all economic sectors and occupations relevant for culture, as defined by the ESSnet-Culture and the Eurostat Working Group 'Culture statistics'.
