One of the most valuable banking M&A deals in Romania was in 2015, when 45 percent of UniCredit Tiriac Bank was acquired by UniCredit for approximately 700 million euros. The most recent disclosed M&A deal in banking was the acquisition of Porsche Bank Romania in 2022 by Dan Ostahie (private investor) for 189 million euros. As of February 2024, OTP announced the sale of OTP Bank Romania to Banca Transilvania, making it possibly one of the largest M&A deals in Romania ever.
