According to a survey conducted in November 2020, close to 38 percent of respondents in Japan mentioned that the introduction of a plastic bag fee did not make them more environmentally conscious since they had already been mindful of the environmental issues. By contrast, almost 15 percent of respondents stated that they were not interested in those issues.
