In 2016, about 1.5 percent of white people in the United States were victims of stalking. On the other hand, about 1.3 percent of Hispanic people in the country were victims of stalking in the same year.

To be classified as a victim of stalking in the Supplemental Victimization Survey, the respondent must have experienced a repeated course of conduct that either caused them substantial emotional distress or to fear for their safety or the safety of someone they know or would cause a reasonable person to fear for their safety or the safety of someone they know.
