Total area of Egypt 2022, by governorate

As of 2022, the total area of Egypt was close to 1.01 million square kilometers. El Wadi ElGidid, also known as the New Valley governorate, is in the southwest of Egypt and is the largest among the 27 existing governorates, with an area amounting to roughly 423,903 square kilometers. This represents 42.3 percent of the country's total area. The second and third-largest governorates in Egypt are Matrouh and the Red Sea governorate, with an area of 161,240 and 121,161 square kilometers, respectively. On the other hand, Cairo had an area of only around 2,450 square kilometers.
